Leavenworth Winter Driving Conditions

For those of you that haven’t heard, Leavenworth Upper Valley has already received the first snow of the year. Traditionally, we look for snow on Halloween, however this year, we received the fluffy white stuff about 3 weeks early.

Over the last forty years, we have received snow only a couple of times this early. Unpredictable, out of the norm, wetter than usual.

These are all things to consider when driving the passes. Be prepared! Carry an extra change of clothes, heavy coat, a blanket, road flares, first aid kit, tire chains, a good spare tire, flashlight and drinking water.

Check weather forecasts before leaving on your trip, drive with a full tank of gas, check fluid levels, winterize your vehicle, and check tire pressure. And let someone know your plans and keep in contact with them during your trip; call them when you arrive, when you leave and when you return.

Be safe! Drive smart!
