Christmas Eve

Here we are sitting in a winter wonderland on the eve a very special day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to friends, family, to those in need and who are not. May your Christmas and holidays be filled with love, happiness and good thoughts for those around you. Please open a special place in your heart for our service men and women; military, police, fire and rescue, and for those that go out of their way to help. It is a time for giving, sharing and joy. Find the good in everyone and in every act.

May your faith keep you healthy and wise. May you be blessed and share your blessings with others.

Stay safe, keep your faith and believe.

God Bless and Merry Christmas!

Leavenworth Events and Lodging

If your weekend get away brings you to Leavenworth, WA, remember - winter driving conditions are in effect. Although there is now snow in the passes and snowfall has been little and far between, conditions can and do change at a moments notice.

Be prepared! Carry chains, know how to install them; always travel the passes with a full tank of fuel, you never know if you will be stopped on the pass; bring an extra change of warm clothes, carry a first aid kit, road flares, check tire pressure in your spare tire, have a map of the area you are traveling, don't rely on navigational devices such as Tom - Tom, Garvin, Map Quest; if spending the night, make a reservation BEFORE traveling.

Festival weekend accommodations fill quickly and early. Sometimes needing to book a month or more in advance is not uncommon. You may want to verify you have a reservation, request a confirmation notice and make sure you are not double booked.

Festival times are very special; come enjoy and relax, but please come prepared.

Halloween Party for All

Halloween - Trunk or Treat

It's that time of year again, Halloween! This is the 3rd annual "Truck or Treat" event; come one - come all. For kids and adults! On Halloween, come to the parking lot of Plain Grocery and Plain Hardware Store. Bring the kids, visit the "trunks" of all the cars and trucks for a safe and sane, well, maybe not "sane" Halloween. The trunks will be loaded with treats for all the kids. This is also a great time to socialize. Adults gathering, kids getting treats, what more could you ask for?

Maybe a cup of hot cider and cookies supplied by Plain Grocery, great conversation from neighbors, or stories by District 9 Firefighters. Ask the Firefighters about their new rescue unit to be delivered soon.

Mick and Trish Lamar are gathering local businesses and firefighters to help the kids have a fun and safe Halloween.

Hope to see you there!

Leavenworth Events - Traveling in April

Traveling To Leavenworth

It is mid-April and most of the snow has melted, the grass is green and the birds are singing; Leavenworth Events are gearing up for the spring season. However, this weekend the Weather Service has posted winter weather storm warnings and hazardous driving conditions.

If you are coming to Leavenworth this weekend, be prepared for drastic weather changes, sudden snow storms, cold temperatures and rain. Snow storms this time of year are unusual, although not rare. Driving any passes in the Cascade Mountains this weekend can be stressful.

Remember, drive as weather permits, it is better to get there late, than to have a car accident.

You maybe able to handle driving in the weather conditions, but can the other people on the road?

Drive safe, stay safe and have fun when you come to Eastern Washington this weekend.

Leavenworth Chamber and Events

New brochures at the Chamber

The Leavenworth Chamber has the new brochures for 2008-09 in stock. The brochures are full of great information. Not only do they list lodging, restaurants, shops but also the major events happening in Leavenworth. However, there is one thing the brochure does NOT mention.

If you are coming to Leavenworth or the surrounding area, book your accommodations early! Festival weekends fill up fast, sometimes a year in advance. If you are visiting Leavenworth, the outlying areas almost always book very early. If you are booking at a motel or hotel, ask if they over book; some hotels do this in case there are "no shows". Over booking is especially common during festival events.

If you are in need of a brochure, call the Leavenworth Chamber or go online and order one. The Chamber will send you the brochure free of charge. Having guests coming to the area, have them contact the Chamber.

One other part of the brochure you will find useful is the map. The map is easy to read and follow. The businesses listed in the brochure have their address which makes it easy to find them if you use the map.

Happy travels and hope to see you in Leavenworth or the Upper Valley.
